parkrun - (depending on your location) These are free, weekly timed 5K events and are very family friendly. There are also Junior parkrun for kids aged 4-14.

Fun-runs: Look for family friendly fun runs where the children can take part. Ideally a short, non competitive course with finish line medals if they are young children.

They can be your cheering squad at races. Make signs, shout out support as you go by and meet you at the finish line.

Our Family’s Running Journey: From Stress to Connection
Our own family’s running journey began about 15 years ago. With our four kids aged between 7 and 13 at the time, we had our fair share of pressure. Work and financial worries weighed heavily on us and we felt our health and wellbeing was deteriorating. We needed an outlet. Thankfully, that was when running found its way into our lives.

What started as a means to improve our health quickly became something much bigger. Running helped us build a healthier lifestyle for the whole family. The kids became part of our running world, by taking up running themselves, supporting us at races and just being part of the adventure. Over the years, we’ve shared countless stories, achievements, goals and plenty of tough days too.
But through it all, running has connected us and brought us closer together. Having your family behind you is truly special.

You don’t need to be the fastest runner, getting podium places at all your runs to be a role model for your family. Being a runner shows that you care about being your best self and you are not afraid to work for it. This passes an important message to your family.
